Northwest Front Archive Files

As promised, the archive of the NF’s work from throughout its existence has been compiled and is available for download. Andy Donner has put in a large majority of the time and effort necessary to bring this to you, and after careful consideration, we have split the material into multiple files, to make downloading and managing the content easier. The basic divisions are these: all Radio Free Northwest regular shows by broadcast year, RFN specials and “bonus” shows grouped together, and all other NF production and rhetorical resources in NFArchive.zip.

Several of you have already produced and are maintaining RFN mirror sites on the Web. For you folks, you may be interested in these new file versions, since all RFN audio in this archive has been updated to the standard the Party set back in late 2018, and they are all now mono recordings encoded at 96 kbps. This has reduced file size while maintaining audio quality. Additionally, all files have been renamed to a new naming convention that will group them by year in any file structure, if you decide to shove them all in one location.

The combined downloads will occupy no more than 28 GB of disk space while compressed. The NFArchive.zip file contains a readme.text file that may interest you.

If these download locations prove unusable, we will implement other options as needed.

Thanks for putting this together. From my small amount of work indexing RFN episodes, I can appreciate how much work went into this.

    Good Job!
That had to take one hell of a lot of thought and effort to put together. It’s very comprehensive.
I came in at 26.9 GB. I have good broadband so the whole package took less than a half an hour to download.
    Thanks.
