Just a quiet reminder:
Remember the General Petraeus scandal of last November? When a couple of the general’s bimbos were sending threatening e-mails to each other and the FBI got involved to solve the earth-shaking mystery?
It came out at the time that the FBI has been archiving ALL E-MAILS EVER SENT in this country since late September of 2001 when the Carnivore system was installed on all American ISPs. They keep them on servers in the government’s West Virginia database center. They don’t actually read every e-mail—no one could do that—but all they need is an e-mail address and they can read every e-mail that address has ever transmitted, or received, since 2001.
Don’t like it? Then let’s stop quaking in paranoid fear and let’s change it.
