On Me You Shouldn’t Depend

(That’s the punchline from an old Jew joke I won’t bother to repeat.)

Dear Mr. Covington,

I’ve recently begun listening to your Radio Free Northwest broadcasts and reading through your website. I’ve also received two of your Northwest novels and have just finished one of them. Allow me to say that I admire and appreciate what you are doing. And I offer such courtesies in the knowledge that they will likely enrage you (“Don’t compliment me; just pack that van and come home!”)

I’ll tell you flat-out that, barring a miracle, I won’t be coming to the NW. I fit the demographic you so often and so accurately describe as the core of your listeners: aging, laden with too many responsibilities (including elderly parents, etc.) and so forth. I am old and beaten down and likely to be of almost zero help to you and your vision.

Perhaps the reason I kept listening to your broadcasts after the first one I discovered was because you put your finger so precisely on the pulse of the world I have inhabited for several years now: the world of the keyboard kommando. I was once a relatively prominent blogger in the White Christian movement known as “kinism.” Some months ago, I pulled the plug on my blog and walked away from it because I realized that (a) all I did was play the “ain’t it awful?” game of rebroadcasting atrocities committed against our people by nonwhites, and (b) my time spent reading and corresponding with and visiting with like-minded people was one of the most frustrating and depressing portions of my life. There are more than enough people out there tap-tap-tapping; they didn’t need me.

Anyway, all that to say that if Providence had allowed me to find you 20 or 30 years ago, I might very well have packed that moving van and headed home. But this wasn’t to be.

If I may be so presumptuous, I would like to give you the following link to an article I read this morning. I think it’s a fantastic idea and something that might help spread the word about the NW migration very effectively (at least until Big Brother finds a way to shut it down). The article is located here.

I will continue to read and listen, and if there ever were a way that an old man might help out in absentia, I will be watching for that opportunity.

In Christ’s bonds and for our people,

Wheeler MacPherson
