Care for a Spot of Trime Travel?

Hi, guys:

I think I’m going to start sending this one out every six months or so, so long as this clip is up on YouTube.

Ever want to go on a ride in a time machine, back to the days when White men still ruled the world, the days before the trenches of World War One and all the horror that followed? Try this: a cable car ride in San Francisco.

This seven and a half minute clip was filmed only four days before the Great California Earthquake of April 18th, 1906, and shipped by train to New York for processing. This film was lost for many years. It was the first 35mm film ever made. It was taken by a camera mounted on the front of a cable car. The number of automobiles is staggering for 1906. The clock tower at the end of Market Street at the old ferry terminal on the Embarcadero wharf is still there.

I like to watch this clip every couple of weeks just to re-charge my mental and spiritual batteries and reconnect with the totality that is our heritage on this earth. Question: how many “street cleaning” people were employed to pick up after the horses? Talk about going green!

Yes, my friends, there was such a thing as the past—and it was ours.
